Amarillo Man Killed In Thursday Accident

21-year-old Ryan Lane Simpson of Amarillo was killed Thursday afternoon in an accident on US 287 in Potter County. Preliminary investigation revealed that Simpson was driving a 2024 Ford F-150 and was traveling westbound on US 287 North approaching the intersection with FM 1912. A 2020 Freightliner Truck, towing a semi-trailer, attempted to crossover US 287 from FM 1912 to turn eastbound onto US 287 South when the Ford struck the semi-trailer. The Driver of the Freightliner was 47-year-old Juan Carlos Sanchez of Amarillo, yes was not injured. Mr. Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
